Superpower : two eyes : an amazed one and a critical one

Hi, I’m Félix, 26 years old French guy actually doing a Business Management Msc in London after a Master in Communication in CELSA-Sorbonne. I first heard a discussion about the “social entrepreneurship” concept in the begining of 2010 while looking to work for the social enterprises holding “Groupe SOS” in Paris, which I finally did. There I discovered that almost everything I have ever been interested in and believed in could fit into this movement ! At the same time, I discovered online the MakeSense project.
Younger I wanted to spread positives stories by being journalist or support them via politics, but now I’m sure that I want to participate directly on the stories. That is much more fun ! I’m also a basic human interested by travels, arts, coffee and many casuals stuffs :-) .
Recently I participated in Hold-Up led by Christian in London, which definitely confirmed my temptation to join this exciting gang 2.0 ! Now, contact me via Twitter, Linkedin, wordpress, or facebook, as I can’t wait to connect with others gang members’ both in London and abroad to exchange and to do some good stuffs :-) !

Roxanne Schultz
qualifier : the 2nd youngest gangster at MakeSense / playground : Madrid / superpower : viral optimism
With the early completion of my baccalaureate diploma at the age of seventeen, but still undecided about a specific focus, I opted for a concentration that would allow me to follow my passions of travelling and discovering foreign cultures, while simultaneously keeping doors open. That was how I decided on the BA degree in International Business Studies.

Fortunately, this choice of study led to great opportunities abroad, such as a six month internship in Spain and a one year student exchange in Mexico. During my time abroad, I was able gain a clearer perspective with regards to where my interests lay within the business world.

Throughout my experiences, I was able to look past the administrative and financial preoccupation of businesses and see the role they could play in the social interaction with their environment.
Later on, I got enrolled on an one year exchange program in Mexico, with the aim of discovering a new culture but furthermore to analyse the emerging public policies, business models and civic initiatives in a developing country. In Mexico, I had the fantastic opportunity to explore diverse business concepts within the framework on a developing country, where the culture was completely different to my own. My wholehearted commitment to this rewarding experience made me aware of the need for diversification within business models, and their corporate missions and development all over the world, according to their surroundings, ecosystems and cultures.
One particularly beneficial experience during my studies was when I worked on a campaign to create and lobby an organic label and brand in Mexico. It taught me how concepts of development exist and are interconnected within every system, whether it be governmental public policy, national and multinational institutions, non-governmental organisations, or in the private sector and business research.

The virtues of social development within business became my core belief system thanks to this inspiring experience, and led to my graduate dissertation, in which I am exploring concepts of social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility, and the benefits that could result from improving their connection.

I am currently making the most of my presence in Madrid, doing an internship in Alliance Française but also working on my research proposal to study innovative manners to enhance interconnections between corporate social responsibility and social innovators, getting involved as a volunteer in the Madrid hub, part of the hub network, spread over more than 25 cities in the world and defined as a social enterprise willing to empower, connect and impulse social entrepreneurs. I am specifically working on the project of connecting the Madrid hub to corporate social responsibility managers. And to continue in this field, I’m Now I’m a member of MakeSense :)

Swati Randev-Verma
playground : India / UAE / the world at large, someday
superpower : DiploBrat =)
qualifier : Conceptualising long term solutions to poverty, rather than one-off’s

Born in India and raised around the world (thanks to my father who has recently retired from the MEA, India), I was brought up with a strong sense of social responsibility.

I’ve lived in developed as well as developing countries around the world and have come to one basic consensus in the past 27 years: no solution will withstand if it isn’t a long-lasting one.

I believe strongly in working towards sustainable solutions, rather than one-off’s. I’d rather teach a child to read while feeding him/her a meal than hand over some money for them to go buy the food.

I hold a Bachelors and Masters degree in Microbiology from Bangalore University. I’m hoping to enroll into an MBA in the next year.

What I do currently and what I plan to do in the near future has absolutely nothing to do with what I studied at university. That’s the beauty of life! =)

Someday (soon, hopefully!), I dream to create pockets of financial stability in India, giving the remotest parts of my country an opportunity display their talents, get 100% credit for it, and make money for their skills and hard work. Thus, making them self sufficient and confident enough to take on various other tasks – such as educating their children, fighting for basic infrastructure for their villages, so on and so forth.

There are so many ideas, so much do, but just not enough time to do it all!

I’d love to connect with all of you! Look me up:

    Dang@makesense.org

    Good morning everyone,
I’m a graduate from Hanoi Foreign Trade University where I earned a Bachelor in Economics. I have been designing and implementing different projects since his early years at university. I’m the Co-Founder of 8X Cafeteria, a high-end restaurant owned and run by young entrepreneurs. Then, I took part in a social project to develop a traditional craft of Vietnam and improve livelihood for artisans. After working for some development organizations, including Vredeseilanden, a Belgium NGO, International Labour Organization (ILO) and Centre for Social Initiatives Promotion (CSIP), I realized the role of social entrepreneurship in development. For me business is an opportunity to improve the world : use business as a tool to address social and environmental issues. Currently I’m the Founder & CEO of Social Marketing Initiative (SMI Vietnam).

Social Marketing Initiative is a social project that will be developed into a hybrid Social Enterprise. On the one hand, the project aims at supporting social entrepreneurs with free or low-cost consultation on developing entrepreneurial skills such as strategic planning, value chain development, brand management, E-commerce, product and service development, market research, customers survey, sales skill, PR and communication, etc. SMI also plays role as a focal point to help social enterprises access to Support & Investment Funds in the world. SMI works closely with social entrepreneurs from the very early stage, developing projects, concept notes, project proposals, business planning and social marketing.

On the other hand, SMI helps develop and distribute social products and services in collaboration with other social enterprises. Those products will be promoted on an online market and distributed through effective sales strategies”

In fact, for me Social Business meens a lot, it meens it is possible to think and act differently. Segolene Charaudeau
Qualifier : the open source guru / Playground : Phd world / Superpowers : springboarding between ideas and domains

Hello :) , I’m Ségolène Charaudeau and i’m currently doing a PhD in epidemiology, studying how daily movments influence spatial propagation of influenza in France. I come from the French engineer school Supélec, where I have studied applied mathematics and signal treatment.
With a few students of my doctoral school, we had created a club on how science could be used to help developing countries, and we were especially working on a distant diagnosis tool for Bangladesh: that’s how I started interacted with Danone Communities, where I met Chistian and learnt about the very cool project of MakeSense !
I’m really interested in social business, which is, I think, a very good solution to improve development all over the world. I’m especially interested in education and healthcare. The problems involving a technical refexion are the one that interest me the most :) !
I’m also interested in all the open source movement : I think there is a link to make between all the open source ressources available and the need for technical solution for developing countries issues.

    Hey Folks!
To quickly introduce myself… I’m a south of France frog, came in Paris to study advertising at Sup de Pub, INSEEC’s group, after a general communication degree. During a semester in London 2010, I participated to One Young World, a summit of young people under 25 wanting to change the world, and I met our Guru : Muhammad Yunus #YY !!
That was the moment where I realized that the simplest ideas are the best ! Already passionate by sustainability, all this wonderful energy that I found again in MakeSense, convince me to use my skills to make this world a better place !
For MakeSense, I will be involved in off events. I love web and virtual activity but In Real Life events are essentials to federate gangsters and activate the network.

    Laura Thierry
    playground : the web :)
qualifier : the community manager expert :)
superpower : Deep, infinite curiosity towards things, places, sciences, mindshapes, people. The weirder the better.

Hi there! My name is Laura, I am 25 and graduated in Management. I participated in volunteer missions in Madagascar and Vietnam, worked for danone.communities and Babyloan.org as community manager. All those adventures have allowed me to meet extraordinary people using their talents to help local communities … and to understand how big is human potential in developing countries! I also love new technologies and social medias for the openness they might bring to our societies if we mind to support this shift. Feel free to contact me and introduce yourself on facebook, or follow me on twitter!

    Hello world!

How you guys doing? Hope you are great!

Well, I am Heremoana, a young Tahitian and second-year student of 21 in a Business School (ESCEM Tours-Poitiers more specifically).
For now, I am an intern in AXA France (until next January) for the promotion of the Socially Responsible Investment (SRI), the Ethic part of the stock market.

Useless to tell how exited I am to be a sense-maker it’s nevertheless a pride to contribute. Indeed, Makesense is without a doubt THE startup of the moment because it’s the only organization which dares to push people out of their common ways of thinking, especially, their economics and businesses ones. Thus, providing my skills to help social entrepreneurs getting stronger will be more than an honor.

Besides, talking about that, here is my superpower: I am the super-federator-man! Indeed, wherever I am and whatever I do, thanks to my adaptability and easy-going skill, I can manage to catch people around me! It’s a good deal for Makesense and all the social entrepreneurs because I will be able to spread their challenges out but above all to link easily those who could actually reach the goal.

For more details about my humble person, you can send me some e-mails at hpuhetini@escem.fr or by adding me as a friend on facebook

Anyways, really happy to be part of this great adventure, I hope we can meet us really soon.

Hey, like Romain and Christian I am finishing a master’s degree in management at euromed management after a BA at the university of Westminster in London. I can describe myself as a mix of French/kiwi-maori who loves discovering the world and especially the people (I love to wear hats too). During my studies I have done several internships in asset management or in brokering, working on SRI : Socially Responsible Investment. I have always been fond of SRI because it is a way to support companies who want to improve their impact on the environment, the community and on their employees. But something was missing…. I didn’t have the chance to meet and to help directly hands-on, moreover the companies were far too big. I met Romain and Christian on the Ethomed project, which helps and support socials entrepreneurs and it was a true revelation. I am sure with social entrepreneurship we can change the world!!

For the moment I am based in Marseille in France but in November I will be in New-Zealand/Australia. Feel free to contact me by e-mail or http://www.facebook.com/teremana. See you soon :)

“Grew up in the “green land”.

Limousin in the center of France. Cows, grass and mountains are rarely infidel when you leave them… And as your (lovely :) family, you are glad to feel their true energy when you come back.

First step : out of Limousin to study .

Why not learning from lectures? Sure, it’s a mean to travel! :D But, first of all, I like to learn from the others because they know their world much better than i do…
Student life is short, people are full of energy, that’s a great cocktail to burn before drinking!!!

Second step : Let’s get involved:

In Art, sustainable development and gathering around with people (nightlife, projects…). Then asked myself: whats wrong here? we seem to manage “things” quite well, but most of people keep struggling for life… Do we have enough “things”? Obviously, yes, we even have problems to get rid of them when they are used. So, we need more “ideas”, to improve the basics we already have. The more i learnt, the less i understand why don’t we take wiser benefit from our mistakes ! Why dont we use our new (super)powers to solve old problems? Finally I think Social networks are the key as they enable us to gather our knowledge.

    Third step : Let’s Make Sense =)

    Hi people!

So, my name is Sébastien and I’m a student like most of the members of the gang.
I’m 23 years old and studying in sales and management at Esarc Evolution Aix en provence.
In the same time, I’m working in a computer shop downtown.

So, this 3 years degree is allowing me to have some knowledge; About Communication, marketing, economics…

And just when I asked myself if it could be useful, I saw Christian.
His head’s full of ideas, brilliant ideas that could lead to something great.
Then, I decided to follow him and try to help him.

What could I bring to Makesense? Well, I’d like to make a difference.
I’d like to be part of something useful and I think Makesense is, and will really be making sense soon!

The skills I have are entirely at their disposal and I hope it will help!

    Hi, I’m David and I’m 22.
I am currently finishing my 5th year of law in a master of international law in Paris 1 and
Sciences-po and I’ll be taking the bar exam in the fall. As such, I define myself in Make
    Sense as a legal designer!
Thus, I would be very happy if my legal skills could help any social project becoming true!
As a matter of fact, I really believe that under the economic model on which lays social
entrepreneurship, there is a whole new legal structure to create in order to support it! This is
really exciting and that is why I am really glad to be part of the gang!
However, I like to think that I cannot be defined through my studies (luckily!) so, except from
them, I love travelling and meeting new people and their ideas.
I really believe that social business and social innovation as well as new communications
technologies (especially the internet) are the keys for tomorrow changes – and I wand to be
    part of them!

I spent my young years in an engineering school then in a business school, during which I met social enterprises as well as extraordinary people. The Spanish Gang
